About the photographer

36 years old (1980). In love with pictures since forever. Silent and mysterious, draped in an unapproachable silence and beauty, each of Luca Bortolato’s image seems to tell a story. A story that can’t be read accurately nor can it be clearly defined. All women shown in his pictures appear vulnerable and strong at the same time, yet are still shy and withdrawn, without hiding themselves completely. Dreamy, fairytale like and gentle, Bortolato designes his images in an almost minimalistic way. Some of his pictures seem to tell us a long journey; others wrap the viewer in a moment of silence in which everything else around him fades into the background. Luca Bortolato himself is a graphic designer. He has been fascinated by the power of certain pictures from an early age on. He says that a small part of him lives in and through every one of his pictures. He is chasing himself through others. [...]

Untitled #4

From: Mericans

Limited edition to: 5 + 2 AP

2015 / Italy / Analogue

A slice of life in New York, the city that never sleeps: the apple made of restless metal skyscrapers; the place where flavours and smells of thousands of skins and nationalities mix. A whirl of places hiding stories to be told. While depicting all of this, Mericans reveals the feeling of being alone, indulging and waiting, in search of a fleeting moment in the flow.
